Online Recertification Process

Renew your SBCA Certification for another 24 months by taking the online recertification test.

  • You must have previously held a SBCA certification to take the online recertification test.  If you are seeking SBCA certification for the first time, please click HERE.

  • If your certification has been expired for over a year, you no longer qualify for online recertification and must recertify in a classroom setting.

  • If you hold multiple certification levels you need only recertify the highest level certification, as it supersedes the lower ones.  Example:  If you have both Satellite Fundamentals and MDU/SMATV Essentials certifications expiring, you need only renew the MDU/SMATV Essentials certification.

There is an online review guide included with the recertification fee so it is not necessary to purchase an additional manual.

  • There will be questions on the exam that are not included in the guide.  Students are expected to know these questions and have been adhering to them over the last 2 years.

The test is 50 questions which must be completed within 1 hour of starting the first question.  You will need an 85% or better to pass.

  • There is no limit to the time you take to prepare for the test, only the test itself is timed.

To Purchase Your Recertification Test:

  1. If you have forgotten your certification number, it is not necessary to purchase the recertification test.  SBCA staff verifies the information on all orders and will contact you if there is a problem with your order.

  2. Choose the appropriate recertification test and click on Buy One Now.

    • The Price will be displayed as $0 until member status is determined.

  3. Choose member/non-member status, then click Continue.

  4. Click on Place Order Without Account.

    • A login is not necessary here.  The Place Order Without Account is located above the login bar and below the red buttons, Account & Search.

  5. Review that the Price, Quantity, and Product are correct.

    • If you have made a mistake, click on the Yellow Shopping Cart Icon and make edits to your purchase.

    • Once your order has been corrected, click Update Cart and then Check Out.

  6. Enter Information as Requested, then Click Continue.

    • The shipping information will determine where new certification materials are mailed.

  7. Enter information as requested, then Click Continue.

  8. Upon completing the order form you will receive an email confirmation.

  9. You will receive a 2nd email within 48 business hours with your login and password which will allow access to the study materials and test.

    • This email may be filtered into your Spam or Bulk Mail Folders.  Be sure you check these folders as well as your inbox for this email.  The subject will include SBCA Recertification.
