MFH2 Technology

The objective of this online course is to educate students on the MFH2 single wire distribution system designed for MDU applications.  The course covers the entire process of system equipment, design, installation, and troubleshooting.  Upon completion of this course students should be able to:

  • Identify all of the components of the MFH2 distribution system
  • Understand the differences between the MFH2 distribution system and standard satellite distribution system
  • Explain the importance of using high frequency components
  • Read system design specifications for MFH2 technology
  • Properly install MFH2 distribution system for both satellite and off air reception
  • Balance the system to ensure proper operation
  • Effectively troubleshoot MFH2 systems
Who should take this class?
  • All commercial MDU system installation technicians who install DIRECTV MFH2 systems.

    • Recommended Prerequisites:

  • SBCA Satellite Fundamentals

  • SBCA MDU/SMATV Essentials

    • Recommended Knowledge:

  • Thorough understanding of RF Distribution
  • Ability to calculate specific equations regarding signal loss
  • Understand the principles of OHM's Law
  • Understand the principle of Watt's Law
  • Understand the principles of Volt's Law
  • Ability to perform BTU calculation
  • Understanding of the current NEC code
  • Knowledge of all relevant SCTE symbols
  • Understanding of cable attenuation
  • Knowledge of frequency guides

    • Duration:

  • Approx. 200 pages, requiring 10 - 20 hours of study.

    • Delivery:

  • Animated & interactive HTML/Flash, self-paced, online format. (Note: Flash Player version 9 is required)

    Upon registering you will receive a login and password.

    Students will have 60 days to complete the online lessons and exam.  In order to pass the course, you must view all the pages in all lessons, pass all lesson quizzes, and pass the final exam.  Students who fail the exam may request 1 free retake from sbcasupport@satprof.com

    Upon successful completion of the course, students will receive a SBCA MFH2 certification number with badge and wallet card within 2 - 3 weeks.

    		 Authorized MFH2 distributors offer hands on training courses. 

    Cost: $299.00

    • 1 Day Course, with the test given at the end of the day
    • An 85% or better is needed to pass
    • 1 Free retake is available should the tech not pass.  This is a retake of the test only.  A fee may be applied should the technician wish to sit through the course again.  If you are a technician seeking a retake, locate a course convenient to you and contact the trainer to inform them you need to take a retake.
